Second was The Midnight Hour (1985), where a group of small-town kids do some vandalism and accidentally unleash Hell, releasing all manner of creatures; now they have to rush to close the portal before it becomes permanent. I mostly watched this one for LeVar Burton.

Finished off with two cheesy made-for-TV movies. The first was When Good Ghouls Go Bad (2001), starring Christopher Lloyd as a zombie who comes back to help solve a mystery and show a town how to enjoy Halloween. I found out later that this was created by R. L. Stine, so neat.

Shrunken Heads (1994) was similar: three kids are killed and turned into shrunken heads so they can take their vengeance on the mobsters who killed them, but things get much more violent and creepily romantic than expected. This movie also featured two future Nickelodeon stars.

Went for something a little different with Scream, Blacula, Scream (1973), a blaxploitation movie about vampires with a depressing ending. Exactly what I expected and mostly lived up to my expectations.

Next was The Long Walk (2025), based on a King story, and I loved it. This was character-driven, tense, and had a lot to dig into, inspiring several discussions afterward. The ending is altered slightly, but I enjoyed it and want to watch it again. Some fantastic acting here.

"They dodged a trunk," I laughed way too hard at that Casey Anthony joke. Also, I wasn't a big fan of this book, but I always liked the cover. The monster can be an honorary albino if he wants.
