Finally managed to see and capture the beautiful and elusive Grasshopper Warbler (Locustella naevia) that has been teasing me with its reeling for the last few weeks!
I have never seen a bird open its beak so wide to sing!

An amazing weekend of #Birding! Highlights: witnessing Black Grouse Lekking, a White-Tailed Eagle soaring above my head, a male Hen Harrier, Ravens, Cuckoos and my favourite Lapwings to name a few! Also finally managed to capture a Skylark! Worth the 5am start both mornings! #BirdingScotland 🦅 🪶🌿 📷

Stumbled across a busy little coal tit (Periparus ater) carrying moss for nesting material. Entered the field slowly to watch where it was disappearing to and found where the nest was being built! Surprised to discover it was in a crevice of a low stone dyke.

A first for me, spotted two juvenile Atlantic Puffins at Fraserburgh harbour last weekend. Just curious if anyone has seen this before in January? Perhaps they have gone off course from Shetland?! I’ve only ever witnessed Puffins from May - Aug in NE Scotland before.
