Blackbirds feasting on the hawthorn berries here at the moment - neighbouring hedges have been cut to within an inch of their life, what a difference it would make if they were managed more sympathetically

Old oil boiler gone and lots of lovely pipes in its place ready for heat pump & underfloor heating 🔥 No heating in the meantime though so if the frost could just lay off a bit please .. 🥶

25 of 9 species in the trap last night - new for garden were 3 December Moth, 3 Winter Moth and new for me was a White Point, an uncommon migrant in these parts #TeamMoth North Herefordshire

Great numbers last night for October, 91/23 sp. with 28 Green brindled crescent 😮 newbies included November moth ag, Feathered thorn, Red and Yellow lined Quakers, Mottled Umber ( I’m not ready to see you yet!) and best was Figure of 8 #TeamMoth North Herefordshire

25/10 sp last night, even with good conditions (cloud cover and mild). 4 Merv’s bumped the numbers up, Dark Sword Grass, Barred Sallow, Red-Green Carpet and Brown Spot Pinion creeping the new garden list up to 20. North Herefordshire #TeamMoth

A respectable 61/14 last night - first moth to greet me was a Merveille du Jour and it was great to finally meet a Satellite and Carcina quercana, both absent from our old garden despite being quite common locally. Box fresh Sallow also a treat and two Black rustic #TeamMoth
