Fed up with the nastiness and bots on Twitter, so moved to the Sky. Would love to still be in EU, and live in a fairer UK. Loves travel, reading, walking, meditation. Would like to write a book someday! Works in NHS.
Welcome! The first book I'reading for the challenge is Haunted States by Miranda Corcoran, which is an interesting read so far. Non-fiction, but then it's about ghosts and spirits, so plenty of fiction embedded in it too!😂

Ah okay, that makes more sense. Although I prefer your original description! 😁

😂What is the sign really meant to be warning about?

Thanks, loving all these recommendations popping up in my feed, gradually feel I'm following and interacting with the old crowd from twitter. It's starting to feel like home 😊

Very helpful, thank you for taking the time to compile this list :-)

Thank you so much! Didn't see the "journalist" Isabel Oakeshott on the list though?😂

The future doesn't feel good - not for us, and certainly not for our (my) children and grandchildren. I feel defeated on their behalf.

I'm getting the same, too.

How boring would that be?! Or if we cut down the ones that didn't grow straight because they're not perfect? Let's all start treating each other with the respect and understanding that we give to trees. The world would be a much nicer place if we do 🌳😊

Is it interesting how we are fascinated by trees that have grown irregularly because of their environment, and we accept them for how they are; yet we castigate, belittle and humiliate humans who don't conform to our ideals?

I was a voracious reader as a teenager, and worked my way through not only classics like Dickens, Tolstoy, Joyce; but many science fiction books too. I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful public library close, and a dad who also loved reading, so was happy to take me every week.

Now you're talking my language!

I don't think I'd know what a hazelnut tree looks like even if it pulled itself out the ground and slapped me around the face. 😂I do, however, have a large jar of hazelnuts in my fridge, so I'm going to try making my own version of Nutella👍

I've read it a few times now, it's due for another read! I first had to read it in primary school, and hated it - it was far too deep for a 9-10 year old. I tried it again in my early 20's and this time I understood ad appreciated it.

I've had 2 copies of this 800 page book: the first one was bought in Waikiki, while on honeymoon. It fell apart after several readings, but I loved the vastness of this story so much, I bought a new copy. I've also read JM's book about Poland and would like to have time to read more of his work!
