At least they spelled Jimi's name correctly.

It's permanent steps you can see outside rather than seating. This is visual effects wiz Bernard Wilkie being interviewed on Pebble Mill At One.

That was the start of his exile in Bath. There's a guided tour of his house every Sunday, with optional vegan Caribbean lunch.

I've been on dog duty this week while Theo is away at a conference, and that comes with a contractual obligation to send photos. Here are a few.

Tara Browne co-founded Dandie Fashions in October 1966. He was gone by 1967 when Dandie made this amazing jacket for Jimi Hendrix. In person, it's 1000x more vibrant than a picture can do justice. His share of Dandie was sold to Darcey Bussell's dad. In 1968, Dandie Fashions became Apple Tailoring.

We've just come back from a trip with George the lurcher and our "lovely", "well mannered" and "impeccably behaved" dog has better Airbnb reviews than we do.

Yanks changed its name to Power Cuts around 1988 but it was still the same goldmine of remaindered and imported bargains

If you lived in Manchester in the 1980s, Yanks was a religion and a church all rolled into one.

Mark Russinovich (wrote a set of tools so good that MS bought his company to get him), Bill Gates (Bill Gates), Linus Torvalds (originator and still gatekeeper of Linux) and Dave Cutler (capped an already illustrious career by creating Windows NT, the basis for modern Windows). Fun dinner.

40 years ago today, a very wet day of hard rock in Hertfordshire. Very enjoyable despite the challenges (heavy rain, Meat Loaf, waiting hours for the coach back).

It may say t.rex but this is very much Tyrannosaurus Rex. There was a copy around when I was growing up - either mine and now lost, or my brother's - so when I saw this cheap on eBay, I couldn't resist.

Although I've enjoyed Chris Brookmyre's recent books, they have lacked the wildness of some of his earlier works. This one cranks the wildness up to 11, with meta layer upon meta layer until your head spins. But the wildest thing is that it all still makes sense. Cracking.

Also in Cambridge, a visit to Relevant Records furnished these two. The Steve Hillage album is the 1984 reissue, but seminal on the journey to System 7. And Allan Holdsworth was the guitarist Eddie Van Halen looked up to, so I should really own more.
