Bonus Terrible Mechanic: The more you protect him, the worse some events will be.
Example: If you keep him from scraping his knee as a child, he won't wear his safety gear as an adolescent, getting into a bigger accident.

In concept, this would allow you to take some mid-game items back to your beginning of the game. It also would be present in puzzles, telling you that you needed a certain key at this specific point in time. You would keep your inventory from current play and be able to take it to past saves.
