What a planting day on Sat! A big thank you to the committee and two volunteers who between them planted all 800 plants! A big help towards improved biodiversity and increase colour on our wildlife-friendly verges!

The plug plants have arrive earlier this week, so we're basically all set for the big Community Wildflower Planting Day! 🌱💪
All we need now is you!

The plug plants have arrive earlier this week, so we're basically all set for the big Community Wildflower Planting Day! 🌱💪
All we need now is you!
In exactly a week - Sat, the 21st - we will be planting these, and other plants we've been growing here, on the verges of the Avenue. Come find us!

3. It is actually good fun, and we do it as a group, enjoying the outdoors together. It will spark interest from passers-by, which can lead to interesting conversations.

1. It allows us to cut areas at the right time, w/o needing to coordinate with an external provider (which can take AGES!).
2. It is more wildlife friendly - leaving a diverse patch rather than a clear-cut field, and allowing wildlife to escape calmly (today we saw a vole and a toad!)👇

Today we completed scything the 'wild' patch at Forest Side, as part of our long-term plans to make the area nicer to look at, while keeping it as a little biodiversity haven. In total it took only 12 scything hours to do whole patch!
