I’m inspired by authors who never gained fame while they were still alive. Franz Kafka. Edgar Allan Poe. Herman Melville.
Also, I have a soft spot for Mary Ann Evans aka George Eliot. It was a time when women writers couldn’t be taken seriously 😠

I don’t usually listen to music when I’m writing. It doesn’t really help or hinder me. For this WIP, I could default to classical and Morricone movie soundtracks.🤷🏻♂️

I’d love to lie and say I’ve been writing forever. The true date was January 2020 during the height of the pandemic. It was a sudden birthday wish. I somehow saw it through to fruition. I think it’s a beautiful love/hate relationship!

To anyone new, I’m Wil. Although the main Elysia Dayne series already has 3 published books, it is still a WIP because I always intended it to be 1 big book with a million+ words. It’s meant to be a tapestry that’s being woven piece by piece.🥹

My books are cheap for another few hours (depending on your location)!
Monthly Wrap-Up:
I have only written something like 15k words in the last 3 months (more off than on). I really need to find some energy from somewhere & pick up the pace!

Elysia usually weighs up the pros and cons before she thinks about acting, unless it’s somebody she cares for, then it’s a case of only fools rush in. She does have a deep sense of duty, and she’s more than likely to help the needy. 💖

Guilt and regret makes up a big portion of Elysia’s mindset, especially since she has returned to kill her benefactor, who is also the reason her family are dead. She’s torn, but her parents haunt her in her dreams. The debt has to be repaid.

I think Elysia would be scared! She doesn’t make a big scene of it but she’s slightly claustrophobic, and she is not keen on creepy crawlies either. And she’s definitely spooked by the spirits she “thinks” she sees.

I went fora long snippet from “A Song of Vengeance.”
It’s a sneak peek at a very minor (blink and you’ll miss him) character. He handed a pair of swords to Elysia before she left for the Borderlands. Frade has a bigger role here!

My US BookBub featured deal is coming up this Sunday. I’m quietly excited and apprehensive because I have no idea what’s going to happen! I haven’t promo stacked it (because the other newsletter promo sites always come up short).

Still playing catch up. I wouldn’t there’s anything scary in “A Song of Vengeance.” It’s human beings dealing with human issues.
I’d like to believe most of my characters are morally grey, even (or especially) Elysia.

I didn’t know Autumn decorations was a thing! Also, I wasn’t free on Free Friday.
Love. Loss. Retribution.
A thirteen-year-old girl promised justice for her family. The time has finally come for Elysia Dayne to collect her debts. ⚔️🩸

The trick that Elysia is able to perform (healing by way of fire… or heat) seems like overkill, but that was originally worked into lore because she throws her body into harm’s way a lot, so she needed a get out of jail free card.

I’m an introvert who wouldn’t be at a ball, but I’m sure Elysia could blend in with the Halloween crowd in her leather armour right next to Xena and Red Sonja.🤷🏻♂️

Missed yesterday because I didn’t want to show you my dusty shelves.
In book 1, were Varya & her “sister” technically henchwomen? Were they following orders?
Chyler is a henchwoman too, but her role is too good to not be expanded…

Yesterday’s video snippet was a bust!
I don’t know if anyone can be classified as a villain. They each have specific motives, and these motives may elude us because if Elysia doesn’t know, then we don’t know. And there’s a lot she doesn’t know.

I made a video preview (videobook?). It's a teaser, with the first completed draft of the "prelude" chapter to "A Song of Vengeance."
This is what happens after the cliffhanger in "Fallen Legacy."

I actually try to debunk what is considered paranormal in the Elysia Dayne books. Unicorns, dragons, griffins etc are just animals.
My least favourite creature turns up in “Shadows Under the Shade.” I have an innate fear. 😰

Spooky book recs? Your guess is as good as mine. I got nothing. Just go with whatever pleases you!

The villains don’t really see themselves as villains. They certainly have their own agenda and they’re doing their utmost to meet their goals. When those goals oppose Elysia’s goals, they’re seen as villains… from her viewpoint.

Monsters are ever-present in all the published Elysia Dayne novels. In “A Song of Vengeance”… there are no monsters!
It’s a very human affair and the monsters are all too human. But is Elysia fighting monsters, or is she the monster?

On a physical level, Elysia isn’t too enamoured with water unless it’s for drinking, washing or bathing. She isn’t mad keen on horses either. Tragically, her greatest fear is losing everyone around her that she ever cared for.
