I get asked in job interviews alot "Why the history degree, you work in tech" and I say "it's because I want to be Indiana Jones when I grow up." As a quick quip that characterizes me well.

One of the interesting things about owning a historic home is the choices previous owners have made. The previous owners of the Knapp House did so much wonderful work restoring and preserving the historic charm of the house, but they had absolutely dogshit taste in lighting.

Generally, the Knapp House's kitchen isn't much to look at, but changing out the post-modern pendant lights, for these second-hand Restoration Hardware ones was a huge Improvement.
