I refuse to believe this sign exists on the FP branch of the blue line

I mean yea, but phrasing it like that felt like adding insult to injury to SEPTA lol

It sounds like they walked so we could run, based on some articles saying some of the final arguments included Pritzker and legislation essentially saying ‘we cannot be Pennsylvania here with this’

NEVERMIND

Where is it? I’m at Austin right now, I thought it was running blue today :(

Both of these are excellent options, but Sleeves tend to win from a safety perspective. Had a few too many close calls sliding on ice and realizing my hands are nowhere near ready to act to balance or catch myself!

Glad the trend of ‘yellow’ and ‘slightly yellower yellow’ as two separate items on a map like this didn’t stick around

It’s not the worst idea once the FP rebuild is done (someday…), but for right now, taking a bus in traffic to board an incredibly slow train is going to be enticing to almost nobody.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but since that bill was Frankenstein’s monster’d into the transit bill, I don’t believe anything about Idaho stops actually remained in the bill lol

I’m lowkey also just happy SubwayTakes has CTA episodes lol

The magic erasers in general were something I only recently started appreciating. Their bathroom and kitchen ones are both just really good at what they do lol
November 23, 2025 at 8:35 PM
This gives me the smallest amount of hope that those federal cuts to the mass transit account may not happen.

With this administration though, who knows what’ll actually end up happening

POLITICO Pro: Graves pans DOT proposal axing mass transit account
The Republican chair of the House Transportation Committee said he wants next year's surface bill to be bipartisan.

Slow zones really can act as a root cause of those things.

Longer commutes because of a slower train, and you feel trapped in potentially unsafe situations when the train is moving so slowly between stations. They really need to get those tracks replaced.

Was on the fence about him all summer and early fall for that exact single reason lol

Me reading this news
November 5, 2025 at 1:33 AM
I’m still very pleasantly surprised they got it passed. Wish it would’ve happened a little sooner, but happier it wasn’t a band-aid, it’s a sustainable fix.

Mostly happy the feeling of dread and potential loss while riding transit is gone lol, it’s a weight off my and probably many others’ back.

Yeah, again, I’m going off of what I’ve heard. I’m not a CTA employee, just an enthusiast.

I’m aware of those, but from what older CTA operators have told me, those are articulated cars, which differ from open gangway cars. CTA abandoned those articulateds in favor of the married pairs we have now.
November 3, 2025 at 5:13 PM
From what I’ve heard, this is exactly the reason we don’t have open gangway cars.

The loop primarily is where a lot of the turns are too tight for them, and since CTA prefer to have all equipment be able to function on every line, they’ve simply never been an option.

Hey I’m across the street from that park!

It is extra pretty with all the fall colors right now. Believe they just opened a free mini-golf course there that I am kicking myself for not checking out yet.

Tragic that their pet project would a poorly placed station and not simply trying to fund the rebuild of the rail to make the train a faster better option there.
November 2, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Kam Buckner mentioned this on an interview today. I almost wonder if he’s talking about where the abandoned Central station is, or if it’ll be a little further east as an expressway median station actually on Laramie. That’s so close to the existing Cicero station though.

The amount of relief and joy I feel today cannot be understated. Legitimately felt a bit of dread riding the train this summer and fall knowing it’s good while it lasts.

Feels amazing to have that feeling transform into optimism.

It truly helped both my sanity, and my need to stay informed on it lol
