What the fuck am I supposed to say to my friends & neighbors in civil service working 2-3 jobs during the shutdown just to keep the lights on? How are we supposed to say, with a straight face, that their very real sacrifice was worth it?

Perhaps though I'm hearing Schumer orchestrated but in a manner to give him/party leadership deniability. Regardless it plays into a longstanding Dem reluctance to hold Republicans to the rule of law. That, combined with the sacrifices impacted folks have already made, make this esp diff to swallow.

I think that may be their calculus, but misreads the situation regardless. The idea that they're going to ask folks harmed by the shutdown to accept that they essentially walked away with nothing simply isn't viable, esp as it plays to longstanding Dem reluctance to hold GOP to the rule of law.

Anyway, as has been clear for years now, we'll have to buckle down & do the hard work of liberatory obstruction & sabotage for ourselves & one another. If ever it was unclear, we ought to know now with absolute certainty that no one is coming to save any of us.

And after seeing GOP lawlessness & defiance for MONTHS, I simply can't imagine a world where Dems—labeled terrorists & traitors by the regime—could *possibly* negotiate in good faith with such brazenly bad actors.

The history couldn't be clearer abt what's happening or what must be done. We HAVE TO throw sand in the gears before it's too late. That's where we're at after decades of this bullshit, & it offers the ONLY way out of this fascist crisis.

Genuinely, what is the use of a group of people who will not even work to ensure THEIR OWN survival, much less that of constituents or targeted communities? It's beneath contempt.

And the thing is, as hard as the last month has been for SO MANY of my friends & neighbors in the DMV, they consistently told me that maybe it was all worth it since at least Dems were finally willing to fight for them, for the rule of law, etc etc etc.

Meanwhile agents of the regime are ALREADY going around masked snatching & abusing racially-profiled people with impunity. They're ALREADY murdering folks they deem terrorists w/o evidence at the very moment they're calling all Dems terrorists. FFS use your brain parts please!

Like, this is an ongoing problem that has only helped to escalate GOP attacks on the rule of law. A big part of how we got here. What in the actual fuck are y'all doing?
