@britishbugs.bsky.social Hi, Metidiocerus rutilans? I appreciate it may not be possible to confirm but it flew away before I could pot. Thanks

@britishbugs.bsky.social I think I’ve finally reached a conclusion on this bug I found at Spurn, is it just Megalonotus chigara? On the first photo it is on the right, with a specimen of M.chigara on the left. I was hoping it was a very lost Eremocoris plebejus but I think that’s wishful thinking

@vc28wildlife.bsky.social Hi, inspired by your post this morning, I checked the Oak in my garden this afternoon. How is this for Stigmella basiguttella? Thanks

@britishbugs.bsky.social Is this okay for Anthocoris nemoralis? Looks to have paler femora. Thanks

Decent trap on Monday night with 2 lifers, Acleris cristana and Mirificarma mulinella. Also NFY was Dark Sword-grass. On Sunday I had a great surprise while trying to photograph some Migrant Hawkers, this Hummingbird Hawkmoth dropped in out of nowhere! Very welcome garden tick. #mothsmatter #moths

Quieter night last night but still worth trapping, with Bordered Straw NFG being the highlight. 373 species for 2025. #mothsmatter @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

@britishbugs.bsky.social Is ovipositor a good feature for separating Macropsis spp? I have a female that landed on my equipment, pretty sure it is between scotti and scutellata but both nettles and brambles are present so can’t hazard any guesses. Thanks

Night after the Clifden was excellent as well with 3 lifers-Golden Twin-spot, Dark Marbled Carpet and Southern Oak Bush Cricket. Last night was very quiet with Red Underwing NFY + the Calliphorid Paykullia maculata which was NFM #mothsmatter

@britishbugs.bsky.social Stictopleurus punctatonervosus? Thanks
August 21, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@britishbugs.bsky.social I appreciate how difficult these are, so I’m not too confident here but based on the colour of the femora could this be Anthocoris confusus? Was beaten from Oak in fair quantities

This seems to resemble a Southern Oak Bush Cricket, would that be correct? In West Yorks, on edge of its range?? Thanks @andymus.bsky.social ?

@britishbugs.bsky.social Hows this for Nysius senecionis? Looked longer than huttoni in the field, not hairy at all. Was in my garden swept from grass. Thanks
August 20, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Was a quiet, rainy, windy, cold night last night but who cares! This Clifden miraculously found the trap last night, and was a very welcome garden tick. Stunning.

@britishbugs.bsky.social Hows this for Gorse Shield Bug? Only reason I ask is that it was from my garden which contains one tiny gorse nowhere near where I found this. Thanks

A very good reason not to mow-just been round my garden and recorded 177 Dock Bugs (Coreus marginatus) on all the Broad-leaved Dock on site that we have left to grow. A very attractive species! @britishbugs.bsky.social
