I never dread running a cfb game the way I used to dread dnd and others. The prep is so straightforward, even when it’s a bigger prep time like the siege or a final mystery/threat. I am regularly running two different (cfb) games a week and it’s still less dread 😁

lol that thread had some very… interesting takes about pbta. On both sides. Though tbh “pbta” means something different to everyone and I think it short circuits a lot of good discussions when people use it as shorthand for everything with mixed success results.

That’s a great suggestion. I went C++ to PHP to the deep dark Perlish waters personally, but C++ to PHP is a good bridge. Lots of familiar concepts and structure but much more loosey goosey with types (at least PHP 5 was). I have since clawed out of the abyss to the comfort of Python 😅

Brindlewood Bay is a gem. Running a second campaign of it with some completely new to ttrpg friends and it is just so fun. And the cosmic horror is brilliant to drip feed initially into full blown cosmic entity over a campaign is just fantastic.

This has also been my experience introducing your games to four friends who had never played ttrpgs before. They universally “got it” straight away. Friends who had played DnD before with me took a bit longer to latch onto the idea of a conversation and collaboration.

After reading By Endurance We Conquer, sat down and started actually writing down a CfB 2-3 shot game that’s Holes but what if the counselors are a cult doing a cthulu/dragon(?) summoning instead of finding a treasure. Idk if it’s gonna *work* but it feels really fun in my head 😇

They, of course, leave behind their phones because they’re trying to “reconnect with the primal man” (or some shit).

What if they basically could have just left whatever terror they run into alone but feel some need to “out-predator” it as the “alphas”?

I can’t help but wonder if the positive reviews and especially word of mouth hype around the game is boosting its late launch on PS. It’s a known “good game” now instead of unknown (probable) cash-grab IP schlock
