My kiddo had a teacher a few years ago that only taught Roald Dahl books for lit all year - kiddo had been great reader but quit reading for fun after that year. The whole class kept pointing out all the things that don’t hold up in Dahl, but she moved them through 4 or 5 of his books anyway

I read the Gormenghast novels about 20 years ago - it took me over a year to finish. The copy I read belongs to a friend and he’d made all kinds of margin notes and I added to it. I think it’s time to read it again and pass it back!

I have my mom’s copy of this book and was able to get it signed by Peter Beagle at a special screening of the movie about 10 or so years ago!
