It just kind of penny wise and pound foolish. Cutting tiny expenditures that do significant good and leaving giant problems in place. Cutting condoms for Africa doesn't put the slightest dent in our budget problems. It's like not buying a coffee to save money when you have a 1200 dollar car paymnt

Our economy produces 27 Trillion dollars of value every year. We can afford it. We spend that money foolishly. We have 700+ military bases in foreign countries. Is that doing us any good at home?

It's a false comparison. The reason we have homeless people isnt because we can't afford to house then and it's not because we send condoms to Africa. We can do both. We choose not to.

2/2 until we have solved every issue in our own, then it's not morally justified. If we have the capacity to help but we choose not to, that's a moral absolute, and it's wrong. Sending condoms is very cheap and effective and does a lot of good. It's our duty as the wealthiest nation on earth.

We have over 700 military bases on foreign soil in over 80 countries. That's more than we have in the US by a wide margin. Maybe start there.

Morally that's a questionable take but selfishly, Africa continues to be a reservoir of the virus which doesn't necessarily stay within its borders. We have done very well controlling the disease here but it continues to be a problem in the developed world.

I get that *almost* everything Trump is doing is within his legal authority to do, that doesn't change the playbook he is executing. Hitler didn't violently sieze power in 1930s Germany. He was elected with popular support. It was still facsim.

I was pretty disappointed with this segment as well. As someone who has family and friends that were almost immediately impacted in a very real and harmful way by Trump's actions, I can't agree with the "you're overreacting" take. No. We're not.

He's a contributor to project 2025. So, while in comparison to a sex offender and a white nationalist he seems ok, he's still a far right wing guy with some problematic views.

Yes and Florida elected a sex offender to congress. That said neither one of them was ever in charge of the entire US military. Nor would I have supported either one of them for the post.

He was removed from a post for having white nationalist tattoos. He has multiple accusations of sexual assault and harassment. Past periods of serious alcohol abuse including drinking at work.
He has spent the last decade as a news anchor, so no recent relevant military experience at all.

Really disappointing that he didn't have more urgency getting this report done and out the door before the election began. He had years. Waiting till it was a perfect case has resulted in the case being entirely pointless.
