Got a concussion at work a few weeks ago, and since then have gotten pretty invested in hockey playoffs. Correlation doesn’t always equal causation, but also maybe???

It was so lovely to hit up a bunch of my fave indie book stores today (and they were BUSY!) - happy indie book store day!

Since I still mask in public the majority of the time, I don't get sick very often anymore. But having caught a bug from my niece recently, I gotta say my long covid body does not bounce back from sickness like it used to.

I miss the days when very rich people used their money to fund libraries, public art and philanthropic endeavors rather than launching slow-motion coups against the federal government.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre doesn't seem to think nonbinary people exist.

Um, they do. Poilievre saying this won't change that.

But it will make life harder for them, all while disinforming a public that might have otherwise been accepting and open-minded.

Let's talk about it:

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
The media called Musk's salute, which Neo Nazis celebrated, a "hand gesture."

Why won't they acknowledge exactly what we all saw here?

As someone who worked in national newsrooms for years, let me explain why the media is allergic to meeting the moment in times like this.

THIS is allyship. Using your position and access to stand up for what’s right, in spite of potential career and personal repercussions.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t change my gender marker on my passport when I renewed it this month because my identity doesn’t exist according to the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

Imagine thinking the Liberal party is too left.

I’m not terribly shocked by Trudeau’s resignation, but the news coverage is really driving home the depressing likelihood of who the next Canadian PM will be.

Very impatiently waiting for Disney to get itself together and get Muppets Family Christmas, the best Christmas movie, onto streaming.

I love concerts so much but for the love of god can they please start (and end) earlier on weeknights? I am too old for this nonsense.

Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs are prioritizing the comfort of some over the lives of others.
Bill 223 has passed on a voice vote. I was the only person in the public galleries to witness it. Not once did the Ford government debate Schedule 4 of the Bill, which will shut down supervised consumption sites. People will die.

I would love it if companies would make reasonably sized cell phones again. I don’t have the handspan or pockets for a 6” monstrosity thank you.

Between closing supervised consumption sites and ripping out bike lines in Toronto, Doug Ford really is showing us which lives he doesn’t care about. People will die because of these decisions. #onpoli

I read a lot of romance novels, particularly queer romance novels, so to see that all of the finalists in this year’s Goodreads Choice Awards romance category are (I believe) straight is highly disappointing.

My friend and I won the best team name at queer trivia by popular vote (Doug Ford’s Training Wheels), and that was almost better than winning at trivia would have been.

The more time I have to spend on Twitter for work, the more I want to make Bluesky happen.
