You don't think he got more injury prone from playing too many games? There's always exceptions to the rule but I'd say playing every game week in week out is going to have long term ramifications on pretty much every player.

Would agree with that. We're really suffering from the Mitchell transfer windows.

Every player is different. Didn't use to affect Rodri either, now he's never fit.

Yeah you're right it might just be covid. There's no way of knowing how fatigued he was beforehand. I don't recall a massive drop in performances to warrant a rest before then, but I might be wrong.

Since he got covid the only game Tonali started ahead of Miley was the Leverkusen game.

Aside from covid, he's also played a lot this season. He's already started 22 games for us this season (compared to 35 all of last season), and his style of play requires a lot of stamina. With a deeper squad he'd probably be rested more.

I think we're 8 points behind comparative fixtures overall. That'll get worse before it gets better because I think we won the next 9 fixtures when we played them last season. They figure should improve in the run in though. We only got 10 points from the last 11 games.

I think Tino's off if he's stalling on a new contract. Doesn't sound like much movement with Botman's contract either so would probably expect him to leave too. Liverpool still need a Diaz replacement so could see Gordon making the move.

Ramsdale let in 2 goals from 3 shots against Brentford too. So that's 5 goals from 7 shots against him.

Hopefully this improves when Tino and Hall come back. I think the wingers dropping back to protect Tripps and Burn has been a big problem for us.

I get there was a lot of turnover in the squad this summer, but in hindsight it probably wasn't the smartest move starting the season without a single fit LB.

On the flip slide we lost to Fulham last season, so if we win that we're only 3 points off where we'd have been from the same set of fixtures.

I'm not sure realistically how many minutes those 3 will get. Maybe Krafth will get a few, but Lascelles and Targett will be minimal.
Having said that, I would like another option at full back. We're 1 injury away from a 35 year old Trippier having to play twice a week.

Does the Webster ruling actually work in practice though? The only time I remember it being used was when we signed Jonas. And even then we still ended up paying Mallorca a £5m settlement.
