In case it’s accidentally helpful: I once had a forearm tendon injury that wouldn’t go away until I realised I was driving with tense shoulders, which made everything else tense. Forcing myself to relax them while driving worked.

That sounds like it solves an impossible situation: when a package’s build dependencies are incompatible with a new version, but you can’t change them without --no-build-isolation.
