Boy, between "aloof, glasses-wearing murderer with a fucked up power" and "beefy gigantic idiot," the Phantom Troupe have really got my number.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc

It's peak. Totally elevated and fleshed out the manga in some really cool ways. I knew it'd emotionally devastate me and it still got me crying towards the end. That scene with Angel and Aki in particular has me in tears. 10/10 I love Reze and Angel.

The Terminator

This movie rocks. Totally holds up. The miniatures used for the future battle scenes are amazing. I know Arnold plays a good guy in 2 but he shot up a police station in this one so maybe he wasn't all bad to begin with?

Also whew there's quite a bit of Arnold ass in this.

The Shining

I wish I liked this movie more than I do. It's such a SLOW burn for very little payoff. I appreciate the vibes of the hotel and a lot of cool shots, like Danny riding through the halls or the party scenes. Shelly Duvall is great in this and I can't believe people shit on her acting.

Jennifer's Body

I had no idea this movie was so "lesbi-gay." Hell yeah. What a dumb, fun time. The world needs more toxic lesbian monster romance.

Elsbeth S2

It's so good! I already liked S1 and think this surpasses it. Carrie Preston makes Elsbeth feel like a fusion of a ray of sunshine, a jack-in-the-box, and Columbo. Every time she leaps into the scene my day improves. I strongly recommend this for anyone who enjoys murder mysteries.

It's now National Cat Day, so here's Ghost and Calamkitty! They're a mother and daughter duo, which would be cute if Ghost didn't mercilessly bully her daughter 😔

Apparently it's National Black Cat Day, so here's my son Lucifer. He's the scrunkliest scrimblo and I love him dearly.

SurrealEstate S3

NOOOO IT WAS BAD. I really enjoyed the first two seasons in all their absurd monster of the week cheesiness.

But S3 doesn't have it! I feel like their budget was mercilessly slashed because the shots are worse, the sets are boring, and there's none of the spooky vibes.

Aching God by Mike Shel

This is SO damn good. The perfect balance between adventure and dark fantasy. This is the exact tone I want in TTRPGs and this book has so many ideas I wish I thought up myself.

It's dark and dreary without being edgy. Shel does an amazing job of building dread throughout.

Weapons

Underwhelming.

Horror Movie, by Paul Tremblay

I thought this was a book about a cursed movie, but it's actually about creating the legend of a cursed movie. It's intentionally artsy and navel-gazing about horror as a genre, and it very much wants to filter out people more interested in cheap scares and thrills.

New Panty & Stocking

It feels just like it did over a decade ago. Really enjoy the demon sisters getting to be part of the main cast.

I think there were more segments that were total misses for me though. More than once I found myself checking the time to see how long was left in the episode.

The focus on other fucked up types of aliens was very welcome and something I've wanted more of from the franchise. The eyeball is a funny little guy and I look forward to seeing more of it.

My biggest criticism is that the finale is pure cliffhangers with no resolution to any plot threads.

Alien: Earth

Better than I expected! The first couple of episodes are rough, but once the show hits its stride it's an exceptional Alien story. I was skeptical of the "child characters in synthetic adult bodies" premise, but the actors really sold me with their excellent performances.

My Dress-Up Darling S2

It's simply peak. Very cute romance with a sweet message about pursuing your hobbies and the things that make you happy. Really enjoyed how S2 goes more into gender and how folks should just do the cosplays they want. Animation and direction were also seriously impressive.

Lost Kingdoms

When I was a kid, I obsessed over the Nintendo Power coverage of this game but never got a chance to play it. I finally gave it a chance and am happy it holds up in a lot of ways. It's an excellent 6 or 7/10. Capturing monsters and deck-building is still such a blast.

Until Dawn

Very mediocre. I really like the Groundhog Day premise in theory but think it was underutilized. The characters were all really bland and the monsters that got the most screen time were boring and safe picks. The kills weren't super memorable, aside from some water-related silliness.

Wish I was able to fall asleep as easily as these layabouts.

When you mill someone out in MTG Arena their graveyard should bounce around the screen like the Solitaire win animation.

Unrelated but I'm a sicko having a blast with Azorius Lifegain/Mill.

Kamen Rider Gaim

I really liked this and am now all aboard on Kamen Rider.

It was pretty uneven in quality, the ending wasn't great, and its female characters are so bad they shouldn't have tried at all,

BUT it was enjoyable nonetheless. Great villains chewing up the scenery carried it.

I like a game that uses its medium for interesting, out-of-the-box puzzles. There's no moon logic, though I did have to use a guide a couple of times because I couldn't figure out how to progress. They could have done a better job signposting what needs to be done to advance a character's story.

Paranormasight

A fun little horror mystery! I was hooked almost immediately and adore the premise of folklore stories becoming curse powers that push people to murder. Felt like a horror-themed JoJo arc where instead of a punch ghost you get a scary child ghost that drowns people.

Four of my favorite Pokémon (non-starters edition)

Ampharos is good too but I love the little sheepy. Sableye and Espurr and cute little freaks. Hawlucha is awesome because lucha libre is awesome.
