so let’s say you wrote it as an MCP server but you only use it from Claude desktop with claude37. if you give me your code, I can run that MCP server in Cursor or Zed with R1 or o3-mini or gemini pro 2.5 _while making 0 changes to your code_

MCP is pretty much _just_ an opinionated interoperability standard. you, the assistant dev, agree to structure your code a certain way, and I, your assistant user, get to use your assistant setup with my own model and/or client.
