Prior to #Rose, at school, admitting you liked #DoctorWho was to open yourself up to mockery. Doctor Who had become a national joke. Series 1 changed that & made it mainstream - for a few years at least. As Series 1 went on, I became the resident expert at school for Who lore!

Suddenly, this old show, #DoctorWho, that I’d spent my childhood loving - having grown up in the Wilderness Years of the 90s watching it on video - was finally back - and it was a hit!

Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper hit the ground running. That first episode was strong - not perfect (the burping bin etc.!) - but crucially, not embarrassing overall.

The Doctor’s “I can feel it” speech really sold it as something new.
