This is a video I took at Abbey wood in Sept 24. Rhododendron remains an enormous issue in Killarney National Park and is likely to remain so. People are suspicious of the NPWS because work programmes and monitoring methodologies remain a secret, which is a shame. But this is hopefully progress.

Nice video here on the initiative. This is a significant swamp forest restoration project that hopefully will recover quickly. The challenge for the next few years will be to do the follow up work to ensure eradication of rhododendron.

The SFPA are due to appear before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Tuesday. Expect a lot of performative anger directed at them from populist politicians who will ignore a. the reason why regulation needed to be beefed up & b. that the SFPA operates under legislation passed by the Dáil itself.

The industry doesn't like the inspection and enforcement regime, but this is in place for a very good reason. Not long ago, the EU did not trust Ireland to weigh fish amid massive overfishing and tampering with scales.
