Minutes were passing by, and with it, Tim could see the sun coming out, filling the room slowly with its golden light. He stayed next to the door, looking at the sleeping figure in bed, not sure what to do next. He had already disinfected and patched his own wounds, his skin that was now clean, was also covered in bruises. His sore body screamed to him that they needed rest, but he was stubbornly resisting. Anyone sane wouldn't be there. To have someone older, bigger, crazy. Someone who had beaten him up within an inch of his life before. . . Why would he think it was safe? Why would he feel safe in Jason's place? An abrupt twitch on his leg made him realize that his time was running out. If he didn't just listen to his body, his body was going to force him to listen. Taking a deep breath, Tim climbed the bed, pulling the blankets down and getting under them. Every movement he made, hurt too much. Maybe more than he expected, because a whimper escaped his mouth. He had no idea how he managed to take care of his own wounds, shower and even get in Jason's place if he was that bad, but here he was. Needing, in a twisted way, to be close to the same guy who hated his guts, because he was feeling safe there. A death wish, probably, he though as he closed his eyes, feeling his body too heavy to move now. "Who did this to you?" The voice he heard was deep, and nice. He even sounded angry. Tim sighed, believing his brain was playing tricks, and he couldn't blame it. It was probably revenge from not taking care of it, for not listening. . . Making one last effort, he tried to roll to his side and snuggle the older male. It felt like time stopped, the heat of the other man's body making his body relax completely, and his mind spiral in a nice, soft, fluffy feeling. Spiraling was never a good sign, but right now, it felt like heaven, and that was enough for Tim. In his last conscious moment, he felt a warm, careful arm around him. He smiled, glad his brain was imagining something like that, and it wasn't a real hand around his neck.

Videos about pranking your boyfriend were sometimes entertaining. One quiet night at Jason's place, after finishing dinner, Tim decided to record themselves too. He tried the "current boyfriend" prank. ". . . Excuse me?" He snorted, looking at Tim. "Current boyfriend? Was this a trial thing and I wasn't aware?" Jason then looked at the phone recording. "I'm the only boyfriend, don't be fooled. And it'll stay that way until I die. He's stuck with me forever." It would be a lie if Tim said he didn't love that night in bed. After he finished watching the video, he removed his ear pods and shoved them, and the phone in his pockets. He tried to get out of the car as fast as he could, and luckily, he did it on time. Jason was carrying several grocery bags with both hands, trying to get them all from the trunk in one trip, but before he could take another step, Tim blocked his path. "Oh wow. So you're not going to hold my hand?" Jason looked at him confused for a second before he'd smirk. "Here," he tried to balance the bags before he'd shove a hand to his face. "Take it before I pull a muscle." Smiling amused, Tim took his hand. Boyfriend pranks were funny (and sweet in their own way) when Jason was involved.

"Don't move a muscle," the voice over the comms said. Red Robin stopped what he was doing, staying still in a very quiet, and dark room. His brain repeating the words, paying full attention to the seriousness of the tone, and how deep the voice sounded. He quickly tried to focus on the case again, trying to listen to anyone who might be near. This was an important case, and he was following instructions from Jason to get in, look for clues and steal vital information before getting out of the building without being seen. Yes, he could've done this without his help, but both of them had the same case, and it was better to help each other, than screw it up and let the target know they were after him. "Don't jump, even if you can reach the floor." The voice wasn't in a rush. It was clear, and. . . Nice. "Do it carefully." Maybe if this was another person (or another voice), Tim would've rolled his eyes at the instructions. He wasn't new, he knew how to do things, but his brain was paying full attention to each word, the pronunciation, the tone, and then it would repeat it as an echo over and over. "He went back to sleep," for a moment, it crossed Tim's mind that Jason was skilled with his voice. He wasn't sure if this is a result of practice, or he was just naturally gifted. Maybe he would do great if he had some RP voice videos, or an ASMR channel. "You can walk now. The door is on your left, twist the knob to your left, too." "You have to twist them to the right to open," Red Robin whispered. "I know, but I've been studying them, baby bird. They fucked up that door, the guy who installed it did it wrong, and the guy sleeping in that office has complained about it many times." Jason's voice felt like it was going deep in Tim's head. It was gravelly, always with the right pauses, and when Jason smiled, it made his voice had a special tone that made Tim want more. Did Jason always had this . . . voice? It could be the case that only now Tim was paying attention, because his other senses were kind of limited, but it could also be that he only did that while in this kind of moments. Where he is giving clear instructions, and it's important to have full communication with each other. "Did you do that on purpose?" Jason's tone shifted to something like annoyed and Tim's brain was quick to look for the reason why, until he noticed his hand still on the knob. He had twisted it in the wrong direction, because he had been too distracted with Jason's voice. "My bad." And even annoyed, the voice sounded. . . attractive. Maybe next time it wouldn't require a smaller body like his to break in the building, and he could be the one giving the instructions to Jason, because right now, his brain wanted more.

The cold, wet concrete beneath him felt oddly comforting, even as his chest tightened with every shallow gasp. It was difficult to pull air into his lungs, and whenever he managed to do it, it burned with each breath. The metallic, sharp scent of his own blood lingered in the air. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not now. He had been alone for too long, and when things changed, when he became the monster he was now– he found someone who accepted him. Tim. Jason’s mind brought back memories of him. His warm, small hand petting his fur. His forehead pressing against Jason’s, as he whispered encouraging, kind words. Things were going to be alright, he only needed to focus on his voice. The thought of opening his eyes never crossed his mind. Let alone the thought of even getting on his feet to look for shelter and heal his wounds. Even with the struggle of breathing, he was feeling strangely comfortable. Enough to want to take a well deserved nap. “Jason!” His ears twitched, tuning to the new sound, ignoring the one of his lungs slowly collapsing. The voice sounded real, but it could’ve been one of his many hallucinations. It happened occasionally, after all, his mind had been broken a few times. By now, he was barely aware of the state of his own body, not even noticing he had been lying on a puddle of blood for a while now. “Jason! Jay!” The voice was so familiar. He almost could tell who it was… But he couldn’t put a name to them. He could only see the image in his head of a pretty young man smiling up at him. It was a sweet, nice smile. Tim. Timothy was his name. A low growl rumbled deep in his throat, his body fighting, refusing to surrender, because that was what he did best. To resist. To come back from death… But it felt so cold now. With great effort, Jason opened his eyes, but his vision was blurred. The voice calling his name, and the sound of feet running on puddles of rain in the distance, grew muffled. His pulse thundered in his ears, louder than his breaths. “Stay with me, Jason. You’ll be alright!” With some difficulty, his exhausted eyes tried to focus on the thin figure kneeling in front of him. He felt small hands inspecting his body with practiced ease, and somehow, he felt safe. He felt he was back home. When he looked up at Tim’s face, he saw his disbelief, the desperation as tears rolled down his pretty face. He could smell Tim’s fear in the night breeze. Jason didn’t need to see to know this was the end. “Jason, look at me,” it took some effort to pull away his gaze from Tim’s hands. They were covered with blood. “You need to help me, I need you to stand up– we will take out the bullets, then you’ll be able to heal– Jason, listen to my voice!” He could hear Tim’s voice breaking as he closed his eyes again. He knew he couldn’t fight this now. Tim’s trembling hands reached out, brushing against the black fur of his head. Some parts of his body were already matted with dried blood, making it impossible for Tim’s thin fingers to brush him as he used to. He tried to cup his face and lean against him as his boyfriend’s head rested on his lap, and his blood stained his legs completely. “Stay with me, Jason. Stay with me, stay with me, stay with– Jason, please.” A broken sob. Jason nuzzled against him, seeking comfort in the only person who had accepted him, who had offered affection. The motion was slow, tender, despite the growing weight of death pulling him down. He was trying to imprint Tim’s scent in his fading senses. Maybe it should’ve been better if Tim hadn’t seen him in this state. His head dipped against Tim, whose sobbing filled the silence. He mustered up energy to look at him one last time. Jason’s eyes, now dull and fading, locked onto his as he tried to memorize every detail of his face, before darkness slowly swallowed his world, stealing the last bit of light. He could rest now.
