To my utter shame in my late teens I used to think it glamorous to wear fur, not helped by living in Italy where it was quite the status symbol.
Ashamed.

World breaches 1.5C warming target in 2024 while 78-yr-old climate activist Gaie Delap languishes in a UK prison for having demonstrated to 'Stop Oil'. And yet there are people who continue to think that we, in the West, live in rational lib democracies.
This 77-year-old climate activist should never have been jailed – and now faces a Kafkaesque struggle to get out | Zoe Williams
A failure of justice, and draconian Tory law, put Gaie Delap in prison. A failure of government is keeping her there, writes Guardian columnist Zoe Williams

This image a stark reminder, in the devasting fires of #LA.
It's not only mendacious fossil fuel entities that are driving the climate to this uninsurable hell hole, but personal lifestyle choices, equally. Reassess.

The animal in the room is staring back at you, wide eyed & terrified.

As I think about a friend whose family lost their LA home yesterday, I feel anger at those who, as usual, insist that "now is not the time to talk about climate change" because it "politicizes" suffering. If we want to save lives, we must address climate change.

I don't think our civilisation is going to survive the breakdown of climate & nature unless that's what we're actually trying to do

You can't hit a target you're not aiming for, and it won't happen as a happy by-product of economic growth

Survival, not growth, should be our organising goal

I've seen loads of setups like this when reading about flooding in Asia. They're brilliant. Little popup units for families when they are evacuated/displaced. Not nice to have to be in one but better than no privacy.

A maned wolf drowned in a new soybean irrigation canal in Brazil.

Three generations of the family were later found also drowned.

Extensive scratch marks were seen where they’d frantically tried to escape, but the slippery plastic canal liner made it impossible.

Species are not passively being lost; we are actively exterminating them.
