I’m tracking who’s building Australia’s tech stack. I sweep public receipts (formal/informal) and log them in a living ledger, then provide a weekly scoop. https://whiteboxaustralia.substack.com/

I used the same method for an exercise aimed at the hospitality industry, of which I was a worker within for 16 years. Now I am in tech, go figure. If you'd like to see another way this project works, have a look here.

Well this is worrying... I hope this doesn't mean Tencent is getting full ownership over Ubisoft.
Ubisoft just postponed its earnings report and halted the trading of its shares. Unclear why at this point but could indicate a major announcement related to the company.

Broadly uncovered from random data sweep: vendor concentration, permanent surveillance infra, AI bottlenecks (power/water), defence lobbying networks, school surveillance, super fund flows, AUKUS digital layer.

Post-AUKUS foreign defence tech: $4.2B visible (AWS $2B, Anduril $1.7B, Lockheed $0.5B + Palantir/Microsoft). Coverage focuses on submarines.

Three US companies run AU defence infrastructure: AWS (cloud), Anduril (autonomous weapons), Palantir (intel analytics). "Sovereign" = legal fiction.

Serco ran immigration detention 15 years (2009-2024), ~$3B. Longest outsourced detention contract in AU history. Ended 2024. No follow-up on who took over or what changed.

NSW building industrial grid for data centres: Julius Ave 170MW + sub-transmission station, Macquarie Park expansions, Wetherill Park underground power.

Infrastructure Victoria recommending recycled water + desalination expansion. Growth is framed as "urban water security." Scale unprecedented.
November 13, 2025 at 4:37 AM
Hostplus investing in "fusion/advanced-nuclear" for "AI/data-centre power demand." HB11 Energy: $8.2M for fusion, "dual-use (energy/defence)." Institutional capital positioning pre-policy.
November 13, 2025 at 4:36 AM
CMAX Advisory represents Navantia (ships), EOS (defence/space), SYPAQ (drones). One lobbying firm with access to competing defence suppliers + govt history since 2008.
November 13, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Bunnings facial recognition 2018-2022, ruled unlawful Nov 2024. My notes: "watch police back-door taps." Can police request data retailers can't legally collect? Unexplored angle.
November 13, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Schools using Linewize/Family Zone for "real-time monitoring of all student internet activity." RED risk: "Detailed profiles of children's interests." From age 5. No public audit.
November 13, 2025 at 4:36 AM
2018 Assistance & Access Act: govt can compel telcos/platforms to build capabilities (backdoors). My assessment: "High leverage at provider boundary; usage transparency thin." No visibility on usage.
November 13, 2025 at 4:35 AM
Anduril Ghost Shark subs: $1.7B. My notes: "long vendor/doctrine path-dependence." We're locking in Anduril's autonomy architecture for decades.

Australia: mandatory 2-year metadata retention since 2015. 10 years of a "standing data dragnet" that predates modern AI. Never comprehensively reviewed.

The AUSTRAC-Palantir contract was quietly amended August 2025. Can't find media coverage of what changed. Original: $8.8M, 2023-2025. >$200 000 AUD amendment in last six months. What expanded?
November 13, 2025 at 4:35 AM
Australia's Top Secret cloud: single vendor (AWS), $2B, 2024-2034. If Amazon loses accred. defence goes dark. Palantir runs analytics for AUSTRAC (financial intel), Defence/CASG (military), and Coles (840 stores, 10B rows). That's intelligence, defence, and retail supply chains under one company.
