today's art from the archive: early designs for vampire deer who have such high caloric demands they use those psychic vampire powers to keep stable harems to survive off of #art
the image depicts a gray-blue background and the side view of a prehistoric deer, megaloceros giganteus, or better known as that awesome deer that guy rides in the lord of the rings. the deer has large, gray-and-dusky-pink bat wings, a thick mane that crawls over its back, and a fluffy face. the deer has long, pointed bat ears, antlers half its length, and a long snout that ends in a bright red, flowering nose, casting a thick red glow. this is intentionally a rudolph rip-off. it has long, vampiric incisors, and sharp front teeth just barely showing. basically it looks like it owns, sources: bro trust me. the image depicts the skeleton of a giant deer, the same deer from the first image, with a modified ribcage to attach the wings of a bat, and a modified skull to host the teeth of a vampire bat. the image depicts the skeleton from the previous image, with faint, colorful overlays denoting changes to the muscle structure, such as a thicker neck, and a second set of pectoral muscles for the wings.

sketching tattoo ideas, accidentally ended up with cthulhu but if jack kirby somehow, i'm electing to call this #art instead of what it is, which is rule of cool no-thought-in-head vibes-only whateverism
the image depicts a sketchy (as in, the image is a sketch, not a completed work) sunset-colored octopus, with three sky blue eyes and the wavy pupils of a cuttlefish. the octopus, a riff on lovecraft's cthulhu but if lovecraft had, like, a miami vice kind of deal going, like if lovecraft thought his space octopus could go to a rave on the side of the dvil business. the headgear is gold and orange, and two horns curve together atop its head, a secondary set curves down in the opposite direction, as do a pair of tusks, which curve upwards towards the points of the top horns. the eight tentacles are adorned with neon purple suckers, and the background is eaten up by black and blue bat wings. i know this sounds crazy but just do me a favor and imagine it looks totally kickass. cause it does. i promise, bro just trust me

the image is of a dragon drawn in black over a mustard yellow background, bound in chains, ropes, and sort of melting like a terrible candle. it also has an abnormal amount of mouths. as the artist who drew this i really don't know how to describe it, i just want you to think it looks really kickass or something. like the draft of a metallica album cover that didn't "make it" per se but was at least in the top ten contenders.

i think about this page from batman: gothic at least once a week. what precedes thomas' entry here is [checks notes] 8yo bruce getting beaten by the school principal while staring at the remains of his murdered friend. then the night directly after that both parents make like mayflies
