Rent is rising

I received a good education-
full of books, paper, numbers,
due dates and pens.
Now that I’m older,
I think of the way they led,
how valuable they are
and how rich they should be.
Deep in trenches
of lockers and cinderblock stone,
teachers lead on

I received a good education-
full of books, paper, numbers,
due dates and pens.
Now that I’m older,
I think of the way they led,
how valuable they are
and how rich they should be.
Deep in trenches
