Whiskey Riddles
@whiskeyriddles.bsky.social
Veteran DM and general TTRPG goblin. Forever lost in the stat-mines making my own game from scratch.
Full-time lurker and reply-guy don’t expect to follow me for actual posting.
Deep in the roiling entropy of the warp lies the forgotten chaos god Nuffle. Woe betide any of the ruinous powers that attempt to sway the outcomes of a Bloodbowl match, lest they draw the attention of the single most hyperfocused sports neurodivergency in existence…

Damn they’re gonna torment nexus you for this one. (Being a little mean in the replies)

Plus two seasoned seamen penetrating each other, and a wizard polycule exploring each others bodies. Can’t believe they delayed the DLC to add all this woke smh

I keep seeing comments calling it a "game breaking bug" and ??? no? The whole issue was that if you were playing a campaign on the other side of the world you might not even notice. And if you played as Lizardmen or Tombkings you didnt notice the AI bug because you had control. Odd ragebaiting.

I quite enjoyed Farcry Primal, purely because you can turn all the subtitles off, and have the story told entirely in bespoke caveman grunts. Grug is mad at you? Thats a lot of ooks for someone in mammoth trample range.

He should get the Kholek mechanic. Every trade deal and you increase the model size. I do not care how much this breaks the animations.

I had feared they were Charlemagneing too close to the sun, but praise ze lady.

Now 4e has some expansions out its probably a better start, but I have only browsed the books and havent played.
August 15, 2025 at 2:08 PM
2nd edition has a load of expansion books and homebrew pdfs that cover a wide swathe of fantasy (some of the pdfs are even unpublished expansions that got put online when they went to 3e). I care more about "being in warhammer" than "playing the best TTRPG" so I like it but know it has issues.

My players always get (understandably) sad about killing piggos, so we often have a field of dead orcs and a rampaging herd of feral hogs stampeding over the horizon to find a Border Prince's golf course

"They think Guilliman's Big Book of Rules is dumb" was a great start to making a fun chapter, now let me take a big swig of coffee and see how it all went...

Still probably ranks as one of the nicest Skaven, beaten only by Thanquol in the 0.24 seconds before he betrays you.

I never considered gnoblars to social media followers until now, but it checks out.

And the Sea of Claws is a well-travelled shipping lane…
I want to know about the bits of the Underground Sea that the Dark Elves are too scared to sail or the cities on the coast of Lustria that vanished into the oceans.

Me, a decade ago: “Oh man Simon Pegg’s solo films sure do suck, I wonder what projects Nick will do…”
*my monkey’s paw fuckin implodes instantly killing me*

This only applies to my own broken brain, I freely admit, but I stem the bad habit of spamming autoresolves by making myself fight the battle if it’s against a legendary lord. Having more around makes the campaign feel more personal and lets you blame failures on specific guys you don’t like.

Tetto'eko the Skink Astromancer should let you finally translate the Slann and they all get re-recorded VO to sound like Kermit. American accents should have their place in warhammer (as bad jokes).
July 13, 2025 at 6:35 AM
What irks me is that so much of the setting could’ve fit right into fantasy no problem. Sea Elves at the Lost Isles of Elethis, new Dwarf tech, big mean orcs, new giant models. And then the Stormcast Eternals don’t fit at all. Sigmar was never a storm god. He was aligned with Hysh not Azyr.

Too scared of the sheer aura that MS-Paint Gnoblar Flingers brought to the table smh

Yes. Both pretty fun imo. After 40,000 years the pinnacle of human technology: a dog that the bullets bounce off when the cops shoot it.

Came for the game recommendations, stayed for Pumpkin Larry.

Yeah it’s a shame that some of the old old lore was a bit too edgy to just be ported over to modern reincarnations. The attempts to rework it, like kidnapped women might be actually mutated into the Mearghs are certainly interesting but might not be the most stable foundations for new worldbuilding.

I really loved digging into the Dragon Ogres. The primordial Mallus before the tampering of the Old Ones, the war against the dragons (now canonically Xen Yang), and the desperate pact that chaos needed so badly the Shartak are the only ones to not lose their souls in the deal. Good stuff.
