Picked up this bottle yesterday thanks to Total Wine Priority Access! Today, it went head to head with its 10 year old brother. Both are great, but the 12 year has a nice cinnamon kick at the end and a nice dry oakiness in the finish! For me, the Eagle Rare line is BT’s best!🥃

Crispy Buffalo Wings with Cosmo’s Dirty Bird Dry Rub. Add Steelers football and it’s a good day! Went with Gluten free Stone Delicious IPA to wash ‘em down! 😋

Last night’s pick up. Yes, it’s a Total Wine Spirits Direct brand but I am a fan of the Kilbrins Sherry Cask, and this intrigued me. It’s pretty good! Full review this weekend!🥃

Allergies are still playing with my sense of smell, so the new whiskies I planned to taste this weekend are on hold. So tonight, I’m trying the “Carte Blanche”, a cocktail described in Jeffrey Deaver’s modern James Bond novel of the same name. (Continued in comments)

Today’s lunch, my version of Camarones a la Mexicana on the Blackstone. I added mushrooms, because I recently had a version of this called Cabo Shrimp that added mushrooms. Served with homade Spanish Rice and not homemade refried beans. Turned out great!😋

And now for something completely different! Found this at Total Wine. A blended malt whisky distilled, matured, and bottled in Lebanon, home of ny Great Grandfather! At 28🦌 for a liter, I thought “Why not!”

Starting out F-Rye-day night with a New Orleans classic, the Sazerac! Rinsed a rocks glass with a few spritzes of absinthe from my handy atomizer, then mixed simple syrup, Peychaud’s bitters, and Nelson Bros. Rye and strained into the glass. This is a nice start to the evening! 🥃

Happy Labor Day! First time doing Smash Burgers on the Blackstone! Will definitely not be the last! No cheese for Tina, but oodles of mushrooms and onions! I added Swiss cheese and grilled jalapeños to mine and a little Bourbon BBQ sauce! Fantastic!😋

Here’s to another successful business (for the job that pays the bills) trip to Wisconsin! I was able to finally receive this bottle from the great friend that picked up this distillery-only release for me a few months ago. It was worth the wait! Full review soon!

Today’s lunch is Smoked Bone-in Ribeyes! Reverse seared on the Blackstone, with sautéed mushrooms & onions. Might have had the Blackstone a bit too hot, because these are a tad over where we like them, but they turned out juicy and delicious! I’ll figure the Blackstone out & try again sometime!😋

It was sauce making day! 2 different hot sauces (red - Chile de Arbol peppers, orange - about 80% jalapeños, some habaneros, some serranos, and a few chile de arbol). Both turned out spicy! 🌶️

Also found time to make a little fresh-from-the-garden tomato salsa! 🍅

Starting tonight with a Godfather riff, the Sneaky Pete!

Like the original, this cocktail is a 50/50 mix of Scotch and Amaretto, but with a twist! It features dried cherry-infused Dewars White Label Scotch Whisky (instructions in the comments) (cont. in comments)

Starting the evening with an Old Fashioned riff: it features Watershed Barrel Strength Fall Finishing Series Bourbon Finished in Apple Brandy Barrels, Monin Cinnamon syrup, and Angostura bitters. Very nice! Let’s call it an Apple Pie Old Fashioned!🥃

Today was my third brisket cook and by far the best! Not perfect, but I definitely have found a technique that works for me. I’ll keep perfecting! Served with German Potato Salad and baked beans. The smoky ASW Burns night Single Malt paired perfectly!

Tonight, I purchased this American Single Malt from my favorite Georgia distillery, ASW! This is a lightly peated, fruity and smoky pleasure to drink. Full review next week! Hope you had a great day!🥃
