To go with this was a really satisfying momentum-based movement system. There were some jumps you had to get a run up before you could make them. Hitting a wall at a sprint would knock you over - pretty common stuff in games now, but totally unheard of back then.

To go with this was a really satisfying momentum-based movement system. There were some jumps you had to get a run up before you could make them. Hitting a wall at a sprint would knock you over - pretty common stuff in games now, but totally unheard of back then.
One element that always stuck with me were the interaction animations. If you picked something up? Animation of Conrad's hand picking it up. Recharghing your shield battery? Complicated animation of mechanisms opening, electricity arcing from the item, and retrieving it.
