Female Red-necked Phalarope on Teal Lake this afternoon. The first record for Whisby and and first class find by @andysims49.bsky.social The Glossy Ibis from yesterday was also present all day.

Maiden Pink is a rare plant in Lincolnshire and occurs in just 3 tetrads in the county. First discovered at Whisby in 2007 cuttings from the main colony were planted in front of the viewing screen Teal Lake 2 years ago and are now flowering for everyone to enjoy. @lincswildlife.bsky.social

Another good migrant day at Whisby NP. D Jenkins had Black-tailed Godwit on Thorpe Lake and a Spoonbill briefly (2nd Reserve record, first was 10 years ago in 2015!) before flying off north east and Sanderling on Teal Lake (first record since 2019). Also Hobby and 2 Common Tern present #lincsbirding

WeBS count on Sat inc single Barnacle and Pink-footed Goose, Whooper Swan and 7 Med Gulls (6 adults in summer plumage on Thorpe Lake and a 1st summer on Teal Lake). Elsewhere now plenty of Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Blackcap #lincsbirding

Duck day with male Pintail on Teal Lake at Whisby NP and lingering male Smew nearby at Whisby Quarry (Jobs Lane on northern pit). Also 40+ Sand Martins at latter site. #lincsbirding

Redshank on Thorpe Lake this morning where Med Gulls continue to entertain. Two Red Kites over; one south over Thorpe Lake this morning (photo Hugh Jones) and one north over Teal Lake this afternoon. Plenty of Blackcaps singing and one Willow Warbler Redlands Old Yard. #lincsbirding

First post on Bsky; hoping to get back into sharing a bit of news from Whisby after giving up on Twitter last year. Today male Mandarin at Teal Lake and one of two Med Gulls that returned on 27th Feb. Also first singing Chiffchaff and Brimstone butterfly for the year. #LincsBirding
