Agree but I also think that it has to do with “protecting the boys”. Lots of people are repulsed by the idea of a boy “wanting” to be a girl. Boys wearing dresses? Bad! Girls wearing football jerseys? Meh. And god forbid a “girl” should beat someone’s son in an athletic event.
