New chart looking very straight and orderly (tips for people who aren’t teachers: you can use permanent marker anywhere you use dry erase markers, and it will erase if you use rubbing alcohol or even just scribble dry erase marker over it)

The bird tracker on the window is less easy to see this week, sorry, I used blue permanent ink to make it a week long chart mostly because kiddo really wanted to participate. He’s now able to identify a house finch and a cardinal!

Hard to see but I started tallying birds on the window this week and I’ve learned that house finches are so cute but god they’re fucking jerks. They’ve been divebombing my little friend all morning and they fully chased the goldfinches away

This little guy started visiting yesterday and i had the hardest time id-ing him because of the beak and I realized this morning he’s a brown headed nuthatch (classic squeaky toy call) with a beak deformity. I love him

Not a fungus, or at least not completely. Just a really cool lichen. Or several lichens actually. Also a free business idea thought up by my 7yo: a mushroom farm where you ONLY cultivate pizza friendly mushrooms, called Pizza Spores

1. This one is called a wolf’s milk slime mold which is so gross and delightful
2. These little ink caps are THRIVING. I love to imagine the evil pixies who are born inside them
3. I convinced myself that these are called Eddie’s parasol. Come to find out I made that up??

today on a beautiful walk & actually took many more mushroom pictures but unfortunately my dog leapt into the creek. there was a storm this morning so it was high and fast. she couldn't get out, then i got trapped in the mud, then i fell in, and i lost my phone. we are both fine now but it sucked!
