Day 5 of our series is inspired by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes' book Sacred Self-Care. Think about your roles and responsibilities. Where & how are you overextending yourself? How do these patterns conform to our reinforced social hierarchies and patterns of oppression and exploitation?

In a society built on a slaveholding economy where value is based on productivity, prioritizing wellness is a subversive act. Resist the roles thrust upon you, make your care a worthy endeavor, rewrite stories that don't serve you, and break free from false narratives. Stand bravely in who you are.

Day 8 of our series inspired by @drchanequa.bsky.social Water is life. It carves canyons, smooths jagged edges, & wears down the hardest stone. Like water, we can adapt, persist, & transform. When life feels hard, remember: softness is not weakness—persistence is power. Drink water & replenish.

Sleep is essential for health, helping process emotions, restore the body, and prevent serious issues like heart disease and dementia. Small changes—like 40 extra minutes of rest—can make a big impact. Use self-care apps, set a bedtime routine, and seek help if needed. Prioritize rest—it’s self-care

This is how you become a writer: just pick one of the things that is deeply wrong with you. Make it a character. Now send it on a self-help journey or try to kill it. Now call it a book.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

I wrote my first response to something my #Finch discovered. I never liked the Giving Tree-even as a kid. I told my #Birb why and it reflected in her feelings lol. I think it’s the first time she’s strongly disliked something. #selfcare #boundaries #givingtree
