This sounds an awful lot like an immovable object meeting an irresistible force.

Would that he were silent.

Or silenced.

Whatever.

Dave... Any decent Asian grocer will sell lovely big packs of dried anchovies. Do with that information what you will. (But I'll add that they were apparently delicious enough to prompt an otherwise dignified stripey girl to stand on her hind legs and clap her hands.)

Yeah, that's wearying. It's a joy teaching the highly able students (if you get the luxury of having time to engage with them) and rewarding coaching the strugglers, but apathy is a horrible formless thing to fight. Sympathy to you!

Do we not think this is coming from Putin? If Europe has to defend Greenland surely that means less resources for the Ukraine?

Do you have the opportunity to teach at a higher level? Or a different area of maths? Or a cohort with specific applications (eg eng)? In my experience, teaching takes much longer than most things to get dully repetitive, so it's easier to assume the problem is you when it happens.

Who on earth is pining for 2016? I appreciate that I am incredibly privileged to be able to say this, but as the year of both Trump and Brexit, it was the first time that politics brought me to sobs.

I acknowledge that this is exceptionally trivial, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate your correct spelling of rein in this expression.

Yes. Ethical, courageous people give an oppressed population courage. That's incredibly dangerous for the oppressor.

I'm sorry to say that an hour or so ago, from my hotel room in Australia, I had the disturbing experience of hearing drunk American tourists screaming about exactly how horny they were for said invasions. "We'll bomb them all!!! God bless America!!!" <insert predictable aggressive drunken roaring>

I'm on two and a half weeks' holiday in Tasmania. It's stunning, but this post is definitely my favourite part of the holiday so far.
