This, and a smattering of key issues of the Claremont/Cockrum era from a “box in the attic” type discovery that does not happen much anymore. This was my partial introduction to X-Men. Because first we sorted and put the comics in order. It’s pretty beat, but memories > collector value.
A beat up, water stained copy of Giant Sized X-Men #1 in a standard poly bag, laying on a diagonal on an old Colonial maple colored hardwood floor. The cover has the characters Storm, Colossus, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Warpath, and Cyclops bursting through the cover that has faint blue “ghostly” versions of the original X-Men team (Beast, before he turned blue, Angel, before he also turned blue, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl of the Jean Grey pre-Phoenix variety).

My cat won’t look at you, he can see the bottom of his food bowl and it’s the greatest tragedy.
A rotund shorthair gray cat with green eyes and long whiskers is a laying in a a sunbeam on a beige carpet. The cat looks sad. In his head he’s singing The Cure song “All Cats are Gray”. This is because he could see the bottom of his food bowl and was told “no” to no more food. So he went into Sad Cat Diary mode.

The handbook is pretty easy to come by yourself though. I can only vouch for the 35th edition containing the formulas.
