Oh, I didn’t expect to feel feels even getting to meet Brian Colin, the designer of Rampage, Spy Hunter and Discs of Tron. I saw him at the beginning of the con, didn’t get to check in later to see, but I hope he was well loved and appreciated over the course of the weekend.

I am now into month 15 of being unemployed.

My wife just lost her job due to budget cuts last week.

I’m still looking for gainful work in web dev, but I’m also great at proofreading, or, could help with code reviews.

In the meantime, she’s got a GoFundMe. gofund.me/d6009243d

Over the weekend, at Pittsburgh Gaming Expo, I also got to teach a few people the basics of Mass Effect Priority: Hagalaz. I think I gave people a nice boost to get their own copy to the table, and I had several people stop by to look who had never seen it. @ithayla.bsky.social

Sent a few more new players your way, @restorationgames.bsky.social , this weekend! Good luck on the upcoming campaign for Return to Dark Tower!

Teaching some people about @restorationgames.bsky.social Return to Dark Tower at this weekend’s local gaming convention, Pittsburgh Gaming Expo!

(Not a paid demo, I just love the game enough I want the next KS to go gangbusters!)

@br00taldan.bsky.social hey there, long time no see! Might you have any suggestions for the best book store or hobby store in the Orlando area? We’re down here until Friday!

My trouble has always been trying to find the line between advocating for standards and coming off as just complaining. :/ Eventually, having my advice and opinions discarded out of hand leads me to getting more ornery.
Yuuuuup. Being an asshole limits your options. Or to put it another way, in any major project there's room for maybe one asshole. That's probably not going to be you, and you shouldn't fight anyone for that role.
One lesson I've learned the hard way, not being a pain in the ass to work with goes farther than almost anything else in life.

Movie you've seen more than six times, no Star Wars or Trek or LOTR

Devastating news. GTG was my biggest entry into co-op games, and into doing demos, and were the reason I got to go to Origins, Gencon and PAX U in 2018. Christopher, Adam, and the whole team, I still can't say enough good things about what you did for me that year.

Long time SW fan, here.

What freaks me out when I think too hard on it: how many people are such big fans of the Notzee stand-in faction from those films.
Just gonna leave this here.

As my purchasing of games through Kickstarter and other venues winds down, I have to say that at least the ones I've received recently have been good additions to a collection that still needs thinning.

Heh. That makes me think there's room for a deckbuilder about board game collections.

You're soloing a new campaign game, and failing the scenario doesn't prevent you from continuing the campaign. During your first play, you muff up some rules in a way that could have altered the outcome significantly.

Do you:

A) Start over, erasing all progress,
B) Continue on?

It took me a bit to get my own copy, @ithayla.bsky.social, but I finally acquired Slay the Spire by Contention Games for my bday. Got to play it with some friends, and a full play through (well, we made it a couple steps into Act II before we lost) with my wife and son today! Love it!

Feeling mendacious.

The hardest part of being let go from a company is the influx of self doubt and recriminations. Some people might think I’m hard on others; they have no idea how hard I am on myself.

Me: “What did you eat that’s making you dry retch, you idiot canine??”

Also me: “Why is this pot of water refusing to boil?”

Then me: “Oh. Helps if I turn on the burner, right?”

So, in further exploration of alternatives to the codemonkey lifestyle, I went looking at a casting site for extras.

I somehow don't think I can pull off "rugged and authentic" for Carhartt, and Adidas is probably a miss as well.

Fitness models ... unless you're aiming for the "before" pix ...

So, if I didn’t mention here… I’m a web dev, veteran of the browser wars, and I’ve been out of work since late July of last year. I appreciate any leads, and in the meantime to help with bills, I have board games to sell, or I can print stuff on my 3D printers I bought before I lost my job.

Had an awful, wonderful, idea before bed, last night, and since this made such a splash over on the FB, I thought I'd post this here and see if anyone who follows me gets it...
