(He/they/man I don't fuckin know) I have strong opinions about communism, anime, tabletop games (both wargames and RPGs), and sometimes my writing. I'm 24, bi, poly, ND, and taller than you. Read Umineko.
Eugh, that's so weird

I'm not denying the usage of these arguments, my point is that you're misinterpreting their significance. My argument is that they're disingenuous, they're just excuses to justify pre-existing transphobic belief. The fact that they've been used to push new bills does not in any way contradict that.

That's just it though, those are just excuses. And they fundamentally don't actually need excuses, they're just cowardly enough to hide behind them whenever they can. This is a problem of motivated reasoning and therefore can only be solved by attacking the motivation, not the reasoning.

Exactly in the same way it is with conservatives, the arguments we're presented with by liberals over why the rights of trans people should be restricted are not their actual beliefs, they're just the excuses to rationalize the things they already believe.

Lest we forget that only a few years ago it was whinging about the possible harm to detransitioners as the excuse to not allow it, an argument even more pathetic than the "aesthetic" one, but when they were dunked on over that, did they stop? No, they changed talking points.

Okay but why are we humoring what liberals think? Changing arguments isn't gonna change their minds because their problem isn't the argument, it's with the concept of trans kids getting HRT in the first place. No matter how you make the point, they'll just hand-wring and concern-troll in a new way.

Even focusing solely on the material conditions side though, how is changing terminology and rhetoric away from the "identity" stuff supposed to help with that, exactly? What permutation of phrasing on trans issues is supposed to convert (or at least defang) the conservatives causing this problem?

I would further make the point of why do we care what conservatives think at all? I've long been an advocate of treating them as the enemy of humanity, and to that end trying to shape arguments to make it harder for them to complain is meaningless because the goal is to make their views irrelevant.

Not only is GenAI TERRIBLE for the environment, but it is a direct insult to concept artists and writers working in the industry.
It's used to cut corners and basically have to pay artists less money. Deeply disappointing

My grandfather did something similar, except (usually) not at random and (usually) just into the middle of nowhere instead of anywhere specific.

Nah I just listen to people who actively lived under it, a majority of whom now want it back.
