This morning had just 6/5 in the trap - Acleris schalleriana was nfy in garden plus Turnip, White-point, Caloptilia semifacsia & 2 LBAM VC37 SO96 #teammoth

A reasonable 8/6 in a wet trap this morning. Spruce & Cypress Carpet, Turnip, Chestnut and two each of White-point & LBAM VC37 SO96 #teammoth
November 12, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Second best bird of the morning at the Moors #uptonwarren, a female Stonechat.
November 8, 2025 at 1:42 PM
A female Goldeneye, seemingly slightly surprised to find itself at #uptonwarren Moors Pool.

Well, if last night I'd been offered ten moths in this morning's trap I'd likely have taken it. However, nine T.acroxantha & a C.consimilana is less than impressive 🤷 VC37 SO96 #teammoth

2/2 this morning included my 8th White-point of the autumn, demonstrating the recent increase in the species in the county - my only other record was in August '23. Interestingly (or not?) I've not recorded the species in September - only Aug (3), Oct (5) & now November VC37 SO96 #teammoth

7/5 this morning in & around the trap, 3 White-points, a Turnip & an Epirrita sp. VC37 SO96 #teammoth

It appears this morning was better than I thought - found this in the conservatory when putting the trap out 20 minutes ago 🤦 #teammoth

I was beginning to think that only a single Tachystola acroxantha would save me from a night of wasted electricity, but the last egg tray produced singles of Turnip & Large YU. Still a little disappointing though VC37 SO96 #teammoth

5/5 this a.m., altho' the G-b. Cres had been spidered. 2 of the remaining 4 were NFY making it all worthwhile - Feathered Thorn on the wall next to the outside socket and Blair's Shoulder-knot on 1 of several damp egg-trays. My 2nd ever Satellite & a Lesser YU were the other two VC37 SO96 #teammoth

Slightly apprehensive that I would draw a blank last night. Needn't have worried, 15/12 this morning, including nfm Satellite plus nfy Juniper Carpet (2), Red-line Quaker (2) & Yellow-line Quaker (thanks @stevetortrix.bsky.social for confirmation on the YLQ) VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 21, 2025 at 10:07 AM
A decent 21/14 this a.m. after a week away suffering FOMO, which included two Merveille du Jour, my first for five years 👍 Two Green-brindled Crescent & a Red-green Carpet continued the colour theme. Black Rustic (3), Cypress Carpet, White-point & C.quercana best of the rest VC37 SO96 #teammoth

A bit of video of today's Short-eared Owl in East Yorks. #ukbirds

A reasonably close encounter today with a Short-eared Owl on a kill in East Yorks. #ukbirds
October 17, 2025 at 7:35 PM
5/5 in and adjacent to the trap this morning. Grey Shoulder-knot was nfy, Willow Beauty a little surprising plus LBAM & C.consimilana & a presumed E.angustea that is somewhere in the conservatory VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 12, 2025 at 11:44 AM
A little bit of green within the 13/10 this morning, was my first Brindled Green. Also Turnip (2), Pale Mottled Willow, Barred Sallow, Epirrita sp., E.angustea VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 10, 2025 at 8:41 AM
This morning's trap not much better than yesterday's with 9/6. Quality marginally better, with singles of Cypress Carpet and Barred Sallow VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 8, 2025 at 7:05 AM
Just the one moth in the trap this morning, but White-point is not one I would have predicted as a single occupant VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 5, 2025 at 7:35 AM
On the face of it, 9/6 would seem a pretty disappointing return this morning.
However, when 2 of them - Clancy's Rustic & Deep-brown Dart, are nfm, it puts a completely different complexion on things! Throw in my second Black Rustic of the autumn and it's a pretty good 9/6 😀 VC37 SO96 #teammoth
October 2, 2025 at 7:43 AM
Not trapping tonight (perhaps a mistake as it seems warm?). However, found this on ivy this afternoon - Acleris sparsana? VC37 SO96 #teammoth
September 30, 2025 at 8:27 PM
An uninspiring 7/4 this morning, probably not helped by forgetting to actually turn the trap on when I put it out & not noticing for 90 minutes 🤦🤦 Anyway, Chestnut was the only one of the seven of note VC37 SO96 #teammoth
September 30, 2025 at 6:55 AM
Two & a bit hours at Moors Pool #uptonwarren to 15.45. GWE showed well, 5 Wigeon, very brief juv. Goosander, two Sand Martins & a falconer's escape - looked to be a Gyr crossed with something, possibly Saker 🤔
September 27, 2025 at 3:55 PM
A reasonable 35/13 in & around the trap this morning, with 2 nfy - Green-brindled Crescent & Red-green Carpet (latter escaped before photo - schoolboy error 🤦). Otherwise, another Cypress Pug & lateish Small Dusty Wave & Copper Underwing agg. VC37 SO96 #teammoth
September 27, 2025 at 8:12 AM
More moths than I was expecting in the trap this morning, but much reduced species count - 24/4. As expected, things peaked with the nfy Barred Sallow. Nine Large YU & seven each of Lesser YU & Lunar U'wing completed the picture VC37 SO96 #teammoth

Snap! Although 'only' NFY for me #teammoth
