I go birding and been all over but not away much these days except Europe and UK. Suffolk is always a focus but will be out and about more 2025. Love sea-watching, when conditions are right. I have local Mid Suffolk inland patch.
Cut a tall hedge down in the garden this week made a dead hedge out off the cuttings. Much better solution than burning them. Also better for wildlife Robins, Wrens and Dunnocks roosting in it already!

#ukbirds Out on a walk round Orfordness avoided the rain but not much seen only Whinchat and Wheatears. Short sea watch from Black Beacon only a few Teal heading south. Nice walk though!

Never grown Sweet Peas before they have been quite difficult this year, too hot scorched, not enough water? But got some off gorgeous fragrance

Spent the day at Cambridge Botanical Gardens. My annual visit. Always enjoy the amble amongst the wide range of plants and trees. The Wild Pear
comandeared a part of a brick wall!

Nice morning walk round Marismas and Salinas Isla Cunela pr Displaying Montagus Harriers 15 Caspian Terns usual waders and warblers and larks. 1st Zitting Cistcolas of trip. 26C re-hydrating now!

#patch Influx of Swallows at least 40 around pits with a few House Martins and Sand Martins in tow! Often resting in trees. Also 1 Yellow Wagtail and 1 Common Sandpiper. Late pm.

It's time to ask folks to give the local breeders a chance. So I'm asking nicely once again this year. Give them a chance. Seemed to work last year, only one sign ripped down!

Still good numbers of Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler and Shelduck at Trimley SWT on Friday. Waders excepting Oystercatcher thin on the ground. Good see Lapwings on established territories. When you look at a Lapwing, well, Wow always!

At Trimley SWT all day Work Party and birding, we did large sections of dead hedge plenty of Wigeon and other water birds still and a good smattering of waders.

Not done this for a while. Nice to see blue sky and white cloud after weeks of depressing grey! Displaying Buzzards up and Red Kites streaming past also a Kingfisher through the garden!
