I know exactly what you mean. Seems like they normally use a tone of voice when they say it that betrays the code word too. I’m usually torn about wishing they knew how they sounded, because sometimes I’m glad that they revealed to me their character. I wish people didn’t think that way.

There was a church in my area that decided after a hurricane that the enormous amount of donated supplies they received from strangers were going to be reserved for only their parishioners.
Thankfully they got called out and shamed at the time, but we remember Parkview Baptist.
