Most Sunday mornings when weather and circumstances allow some friends and go trail walking somewhere around Wellington. Yesterday was a 14K/4hr loop through Belmont Regional Park to a blustery Boulder Hill summit, about half of which was in sight of my house in the suburb next door

The Phoenix Foundation at Meow Nui last night, a new venue I've been to once before in its previous life. Missed them the first time around so it was good to finally see them live.

Meanwhile I never saw NZ433 because they flagged their approach early, everyone aboard NZ439 was getting a bumpy scenic tour of the sounds waiting to approach, the flight to Brisbane didn't even take off, but the smaller turboprops were still tiptoeing in. Classic WLG gale day

Got out to one of my spots late this afternoon. The gale and crosswind were too much for NZ481 which instead of landing became a return flight to Auckland. Good day to be on the ground, and good for photos, feeling for anyone aboard though!

The three remaining C-130H(NZ) in RNZAF service over Carterton today as they near retirement after nearly 60 years now the replacement J model hercs are in service.
I think the last time I saw three RNZAF Hercs in formation was at the RNZAF 50th anniversary show at Ohakea in 1987 🙂
