This. It’s very difficult to continue willingly paying more in taxes to live here in the city than i would pay anywhere else in the region, yet get fewer or worse services. we need to focus on doing the basics well. we need some core competencies because we have zero right now.

When holding on to your vacant building only costs you a measly $300/year in property taxes, where’s the incentive to do anything with it? There is none. We severely undervalue vacant buildings and vacant land.

Gravois Park’s vacancies, bad landlords and poorly maintained LRA properties all feel like they could be tackled with a huge ROI and yet there’s so little done by those with power.

So many of these in Gravois Park, my neighborhood. infuriating. If I had money I’d buy them all out and do it myself. I don’t understand why people leave their properties to rot and don’t try to do anything with them. Just waiting for someone else to do the work and sell when values rise i guess
