What a treat to come to New Jersey to celebrate the work of ethnic media in one of the country's most diverse states. Trump et all can say what they want. This is diversity and inclusion in action! Great work team @centerforcooperativemedia.org.web.brid.gy for organizing.

I took a two-week break from social media and yeah... it felt amazing. I picked up the guitar, brushed up on my Spanish, spent more time with the fam cooking, doing dishes, etc. Took a few pics along the way. You know, life in the before times.

Today at the #poorpeoplescampaign in Yelamu, the Ohlone name for San Francisco, demands to end police sweeps of homeless encampments which cost tens of thousands, solve absolutely nothing and inflict pain and at times death on the most vulnerable. A Dickensian dystopia if there ever was one.

Really enjoying this. From the rustic roots of pot de feu, the Islamophobic/anti-semitic origins of Iberian ham and the Chinese/American mash up that is today's Japanese ramen, a brilliant tour through time and taste and how they come together to create home. Worth a read for food+history buffs.

Caught this billboard near downtown SF last night. With all the fears of automation, layoffs, the criticisms of big tech and it's disdain for the world of living, breathing people... is it me, or does this just seem seriously tone deaf?

Took a walk through San Francisco this weekend. Signs for Harris/Walz, Free Palestine, a Ukraine flag hung in windows across the city. Joined the Virgin of Guadalupe pilgrimage as thousands marched, many carrying prayers on their backs. Faith & lost causes, a unifying theme in the City by the Bay?

And, sure enough... The original film's title means Seoul Spring, referring to the democratic uprising against former S. Korean leader Cheon Doo Hwan. The title here has been modified to say, Seoul Winter.

So I was walking my dog yesterday. He stopped, raised his leg, and... low and behold, within his line of fire was this book, tossed onto the sidewalk amidst other bits. You have to wonder, right?

Guess what! Today is #KimchiDay! Was up in Sacramento over the summer to celebrate passage of the resolution enshrining the beloved Korean staple into California's culinary fabric. Thanks to newly elected Sen. Dave Min for making that happen.

Headed to the Mendocino coast at the start of the week for what was supposed to be a brief working getaway. Then the #bombcyclone hit and we had to hightail it outta there or risk getting trapped in the storm. Stopped by Pt. Arena lighthouse on the way out. Lonely, windswept, and utterly beautiful.
