It’s that time of year where I post mediocre poetry about my dead cat and you can’t stop me.
One year since. I hate that death offers growth. Clarity. Perspective. That your loss changed me for the better. Taught me to let go. To act. To hold tight. So little matters like you mattered. Our little family. Your cuddles. Your loyalty. Your love. It hurt to lose you in the way that made other pain dull. Irrelevant. Your marks are still on the wall. We won't clean them. Your things are beloved by two creatures we love in your honor. We love them like you taught us. A sprout grows from where we lay you. A black cat looks up at you one paw outstretched as she takes up a whole stair.
