The MC’s dad and brother are engineers that work at the hydroelectric dam at Lake Opal. Aridia in general is pretty sparsely populated. It’s rich in gemstones and has some gold mines though, so it’s relatively easy to import stuff 👍

The two largest bodies of water in Aridia are Lake Opal and the Ganges River. Running parallel to the river are the Babylon Mountains. The capital (which still doesn’t have a name) and the Academy where the MC lives are sandwiched between the river and the mountains :)
