I think I’ve worked through the issues and am able to get consistent good stitches. This weekend I’m going to start on some of my old band shirts!

Was able to wind the bobbin, thread the needle and raise the bobbin thread!
When I was winding the bobbin I figured out that if I press into the hand wheel just a little bit then it fixes the issue.

Got a free sewing machine from the buy nothing group. They said it doesn’t work consistently. Seems like it might need to be cleaned or belts tightened.
