i mean clearly, Shaggy is singing from Santa’s perspective, albeit from a “Clark Kent” situation where Shaggy is Superman/Santa but can’t let his partner in on it. So instead it becomes preferable to Shaggy to let his girlfriend believe that he was cheating on her, rather than the truth.
