Krummholz! Term to describe lopsided trees formed by harsh subalpine environments of fierce winds and short growing seasons. In German, krumm means crooked, holz refers to wood. When I see this in nature, I think less “stunted” - more sculptural, beautiful and strong, way to adapt and hang on.
