To be fair, you can still hear those sounds on the new cricket pitch, on the other side of the lane, about 200 yards away from the old club. 😀

It is indeed Whaley Bridge canal basin, with the Transhipment Warehouse at its head. The restored canal basin is now a thriving location; hosting markets and community events and festivals. The Transhipment, which includes a pre-loved bookshop, is open 6 days a week.
